IELTS writing task 2 sample answer essay: Government-Businesses

In recent years, transport and accommodation problems have been on the rise in many cities, leading some governments to encourage businesses to relocate to rural areas. While this may have its advantages, it also raises concerns about potential drawbacks. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument and provide my own opinion.

On the one hand, moving businesses to rural areas could have several advantages. Firstly, it may help to ease the congestion and overcrowding that is often seen in urban centers. This could lead to less traffic and pollution, making these areas more pleasant to live in. Additionally, rural areas may offer lower rental costs for businesses, which could help to reduce overheads and increase profitability. Finally, it could provide job opportunities for local people, which could help to reduce unemployment rates and stimulate the local economy.

On the other hand, there are also potential disadvantages to this policy. One of the main concerns is the lack of infrastructure in many rural areas. These areas may not have access to the same facilities and resources as urban areas, which could make it difficult for businesses to operate effectively. Additionally, there may be a lack of skilled labor in these areas, which could make it harder for businesses to find the right employees. Finally, there may be cultural differences between urban and rural areas, which could create tensions and make it harder for businesses to integrate into the local community.

In my opinion, the advantages of encouraging businesses to move to rural areas outweigh the disadvantages. While there may be some challenges involved, the benefits of reducing congestion, lowering costs, and creating job opportunities are significant. Moreover, it is important to remember that rural areas have their own unique strengths and opportunities, and by encouraging businesses to relocate there, we can help to develop these areas and create a more balanced and sustainable economy.

In conclusion, as transport and accommodation problems continue to increase in many cities, it is understandable that some governments are encouraging businesses to move to rural areas. While this policy has its pros and cons, I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and that it is a positive step towards creating a more balanced and sustainable economy.
