Introduction is the first most paragraph of the whole IELTS writing task 2. It is the combination of three things:- paraphrase, thesis statement and outline statement. Your duty is to provide the information about the task that you are going to write in Body paragraphs + your focus lines.
If your writing task 2 introduction is not great that means your task’s first impression is negative. The introductory part of the task can make a difference of 2 to 3 bands. Let’s suppose there are 2 students A and B. A have written. his introduction in a extremely bad ways like he does not paraphrase, He does not write thesis statement clearly. But Student B have written all the things same as IELTS expert. The examiner will check the exam of Student B in happy mood and with 100% attention. But it will not happen in case of A.

1. paraphrasing the statement to Generally
Paraphrasing is the initial part of introduction. Paraphrasing means, you need to change the words with synonyms and make a different type of sentence. But most of the students start their IELTS Writing task 2 introduction with some common words such as “now a days” “In this modern world” etc. but this does not looks professional They just write whole statement same as the question or write general information about that topic. But this is the worst thing which student do and think they will get good band score with this thing. You need to remember that, your duty is to answer the Writing task 2 question by discussing exactly about the topic’s keyword. If you write generally, then the examiner will think, he/she is a medium student.

Thousands of students starts the body paragraphs without informing the information in introduction. They do not tell in intro that what they will do in the Body paragraphs and what are they writing about further. This can push you in a big problem. Even the examiner can give you single band in IELTS writing task 2.
3. Not include the thesis statement
This is the end part of IELTS writing task 2 introduction but do not ignore this. This looks like an unimportant part but that is not. Thesis statement tells the examiner that are you agree with the statement or not and about you opinion or pros and cons. Some of the Beginner students do this type of mistakes, they add some laughable line in the intro and think this will affect positively. If you want to impress the examiner, just do it with your knowledge but not with these unnecessary things.
